Check faucets and showers, looking for visible leaks as well as testing for functional drainage and flow. Identify the types of pipes used, if visible. Identify the location of the main water shutoff valve.
Identify the types of wiring, testing accessible electrical receptacles including GFCIs, inspect the electrical panel if safe to do so for safety issues and fire hazards.
Report on the condition and age, if possible, of the furnace and air conditioner and recommend any repairs or maintenance.
Report on the condition and potential age of the water heater and check for proper installation of water lines and any vent pipes
Check for proper ventilation. A poorly ventilated dryer exhaust can be a serious fire hazard.
Checking for fire alarms as well as carbon monoxide detectors, ensuring that firewalls are present between garages and living areas as well as checking fireplaces for potential issues.
Check for visible leaks, properly secured toilets, proper ventilation to prevent moisture related issues, and more.
If possible, check for structural damage and proper ventilation. Also check insulation and ensure that nothing is ventilated directly into the attic, such as the bathroom.
